Events

You areYou're required to bid your flights using the 'Bid Flight' button found on the eventEvent page. You do not use the 'Flights' menu above. If you fail to follow this thenthis, you will not get the bonus for the eventEvent – and we will not fix that.

 You have a 1-hour grace period after the event end time to submit your PIREP. If you do not submit by the end of the 1-hour grace periodperiod, you willyou'll forfeit the double hours and points. Please make sure you review when the event ends (indicated on the event page) and add 1 hour to it. No exceptions will be made.

 The calendar defaults to UTC time,time. ifIf you wish to see this in your local timezonetimezone, click on the button labeled UTC,UTC – or if youyou're are mobilemobile, click on the button labeled U;U. thisDoing so will switch you to local time (denoted by LOCAL or L). and you can clickClick it again to return to UTC.


All of our Group Flights will take place on PilotEdge and VATSIM or PilotEdge,; however it's not required to use either of them or even be a pilotPilot with them.their services. It's just the preferred method so that we can all see each other in a multiplayer setting and have air traffic control provided. If you want to join a group flight but you don't want to fly on VATSIMPilotEdge or PilotEdge,VATSIM, that's perfectly fine. You can participate by joining our Group Flight voice channel on Discord.

Find an eventEvent belowby thatclicking youthe wantEvents toicon signin upthe forNavigation and clickBar on the eventCrew Ops website. In the calendar that appears, review the options for that month. Click on an Event that interests you within that day's square. This will take you to the Event's details page. HereHere, you can read more information onabout the event,Event.

  • If you're interested in joiningsigning byup clickingfor it, click the Sign-Up button.
  • If you're not interested in signing-up for it, click the Back To Events button (back arrow icon) to return to the Event Calendar.

All pilotsPilots who attendattending an event will receive double hours and points for participating.


You do not have to be at the airport location in order to participate.

Event flights do not change your location upon landing.

 

There

Weare have threefour (4) types of Group Flights at Walker Air Transport.Transport. This allows us to offer the flexibility for our pilots as well as our Event Directors.Directors Youand canPilots findto have options and flexibility – in creating the Events and flying them. Find the type of event youin arewhich you're participating in by reading the header above the list of airportsairports. (it'sThe prettytypes selfare explanatory.)explained below.

  • Fly-In; Fly-Out
    Fly-In/Fly-Out Specific youYou must fly into one
    of these airports.
  • Fly-Out; youYou must fly out of one
    of these airports.
  • Fly-In/Fly-Out; youYou must fly ininto or out of
    one of these airports.

Let's talk about times as it relates to our Event System.

  • Bidding Opens; Bidding Closes
    Submission Period All bidding opens 3-hours
    prior to the start time.
  • Bidding Closes; All bidding closes 30 minutes
    before the event end time.
  • Submission Period; youYou have a 2-hour grace period after the event ends to submit your PIREP.

So, let's goreview step-by-step on how a group flight works:

    Sign up for an event.Event.
2 Make note of the start time and end timetime.
NOTE:  (youYou only get a 1-hour grace period after the end time to submit your PIREP.) 3 1-hour prior to the eventEvent startStart timeTime (or 3-hours prior if it is a 'Fly-In') and up to 30 minutes before the eventEvent endEnd time,Time, you willyou'll see a 'Bid a Flight' button. ThisIt will allowallows you to create a flight using an aircraft from all threeany of our fleet operations (Cargo, Charter,Charter and Scheduled) in order to participate in the event.Event. 4 If you see a 'Bid Exists' button;button, that means you already made a bidBid and will need to go delete it (in My Bids) in order to make a new one. 5 The eventEvent detailsDetails page will list a preferred route to use.route. You can gouse by this information,it or use SimBriefsimBrief to create your own routing. 6 Read the Flight Briefing! The flight briefingIt may include important information such as what airport we will depart from and arrive to if it's necessary. 7 You get credit for flying the Event as long as you meet theits requirementrequirement(s).
