Events

You are required to bid your flights using the 'Bid Flight' button found on the event page. You do not use the 'Flights' menu above. If you fail to follow this then you will not get the bonus for the event and we will not fix that.

You have a 1-hour grace period after the event end time to submit your PIREP. If you do not submit by the end of the 1-hour grace period you will forfeit double hours and points. Please make sure you review when the event ends (indicated on the event page) and add 1 hour to it. No exceptions will be made.

The calendar defaults to UTC time, if you wish to see this in your local timezone click on the button labeled UTC, or if you are mobile click on the button labeled U; this will switch you to local time (denoted by LOCAL or L) and you can click it again to return to UTC.

All of our Group Flights will take place on VATSIM or PilotEdge, however it's not required to use either or even be a pilot with them. It's just the preferred method so that we can all see each other in a multiplayer setting and have air traffic control provided. If you want to join a group flight but you don't want to fly on VATSIM or PilotEdge, that's perfectly fine. You can participate by joining our Group Flight voice channel on Discord.

If you wish to learn more about either service, visit:

PilotEdge - https://pilotedge.net

Find an event below that you want to sign up for and click on the event within that day's square. This will take you to the Event's details page. Here you can read more information on the event, and signup if you're interested in joining by clicking the Sign-Up button.

All pilots who attend an event will receive double hours and points for participating.

You do not have to be at the airport location in order to participate.

Event flights do not change your location upon landing.

We have three (4) types of Group Flights at Walker Air Transport. This allows us to offer the flexibility for our pilots as well as our Event Directors. You can find the type of event you are participating in by reading the header above the list of airports (it's pretty self explanatory.)

  • Fly-In; you must fly into one of these airports.
Fly-Out; you must fly out of one of these airports. Fly-In/Fly-Out; you must fly in or out of one of these airports. Specific; you must fly between these airports.

Let's talk about times as it relates to our Event System.

  • Bidding Opens; All bidding opens 3-hours prior to the start time.
Bidding Closes; All bidding closes 30 minutes before the event end time. Submission Period; you have a 2-hour grace period after the event ends to submit your PIREP.

So, let's go step-by-step on how a group flight works:

  • Sign up for an event.
Make note of the start time and end time (you only get a 1-hour grace period after the end time to submit your PIREP.) 1-hour prior to the event start time (or 3-hours prior if it is a 'Fly-In') and up to 30 minutes before the event end time, you will see a 'Bid a Flight' button. This will allow you to create a flight using an aircraft from all three of our fleet operations (Cargo, Charter, and Scheduled) in order to participate in the event. If you see a 'Bid Exists' button; that means you already made a bid and will need to go delete it (in My Bids) in order to make a new one. The event details page will list a preferred route to use. You can go by this information, or use SimBrief to create your own routing. Read the Flight Briefing! The flight briefing may include important information such as what airport we will depart from and arrive to if it's necessary. You get credit for flying as long as you meet the requirement of the event setup: Fly-In, Fly-Out, Fly-In/Fly-Out, Specific Airport (you read about that above.) All event times are in UTC, but we also show the local time (to you) as well. The start time is our pushback time, I would plan to be online 30 minutes prior in order to complete pre-check. Get on Discord and join the Group Flight voice channel. This is how we communicate with one another. (Optional and not all pilots do this.)
