Overview

Discord is an instant messaging and VoIP application and digital distribution platform designed for creating online communities. We use it primarily as a communications tool – to connect and interact with our Pilots in real-time.

While joining the company’s Discord is not mandatory, it’s very strongly encouraged.

Walker Air Transport’s Discord server can be accessed here:  https://discord.gg/AXpCbd8

I’ve never used Discord before. How do I get started?

The first thing to do is join our Discord. You can do that by clicking this link (https://discord.gg/AXpCbd8) and following any instructions you encounter. After having your online ID activated, scroll though the Groups and Channels you encounter to get a feel for what’s being posted in each one. And then, post away and allow your fellow Pilots to get to know you…

How do I interact with others in Discord?

How to use Discord is well beyond our ability to describe here; however, there are any number of online resources you can access to help you ‘fill in the blanks’, so to speak. In your Internet Browser, enter the phrase ‘how to use Discord’ – or something similar – and select any of the many items that appear to learn more.

What does the color of someone’s company ID mean?

We use the color of a Pilot’s ID in Discord to acknowledge a variety of roles | designations within the company.

If you’re a Student or Private Pilot and would like to have your company ID’s appearance reflect that designation in Discord, here’s what you need to do:

Student Pilot:

  • Contact [email protected]or – DM a member of the Business Office; and,
  • Provide a copy of your Student License (block out private information) – or – for those outside the US, something of an equivalent nature to validate your status. Your license must be valid and not expired.

Private Pilot:

  • Contact [email protected]or – DM a member of the Business Office; and,
  • Provide a copy of your Pilot License (block out private information) to show you hold, at a minimum, a Private Pilot endorsement. Your license must be valid and not expired.

If you’d rather not submit your license for either designation, that's your decision. You can’t obtain the designations without verifying your License status.
